In my final work of my B.A. in communication design I focussed on analyzing German words to find out ambiguities. The German language is rich of compound nouns, so if the two components of a word already have several meanings by itself, it theoretically multiplies the possible meanings of the noun. I chose to depict the second, not immediately linked level of meaning to create a kind of riddle.
Using Linocut and digital editing fifteen enigmatic illustrations emerged, that could only be solved by intense pondering or ripping the pages open.
(There is one last book for sale.)
Here you can see three of my fifteen illustrations, a mouseover will reveal the solution.
Sorry for all of you, who don't speak German, this project just works that way.
